First Lady Michelle Obama To Visit San Diego Thursday
Michelle Obama will tour a community farm in San Diego tomorrow as part of her campaign to end childhood obesity.
The first lady will meet with community farmers and volunteers, tour the garden and make remarks, according to the White House, which did not disclose the location.
Obama’s stop in San Diego comes on the final leg of her first official solo trip as first lady.
Earlier this week, she traveled to Haiti, where she toured the devastation from January’s earthquake. Obama then flew to Mexico, where she met with Margarita Zavala, wife of Mexican President Felipe Calderon, toured the National Museum of Anthropology and visited with school children.
She will be in San Diego to promote her “Let’s Move!” campaign, which seeks to improve nutrition, encourage healthy eating and ensure access to fresh and affordable foods.
President Obama will visit the Southland, as well. His trip takes him to Los Angeles on Monday where he will campaign for Senator Barbara Boxer’s re-election.
