Car Runs Into Cathedral City Hair Salon

Employees at a Cathedral City hair salon are cleaning up broken glass today after a man slammed his car into the business.

Eyewitnesses say a man driving a 1997 Honda Accord ran into the “Hair Images Salon? around 9am at the Mission Plaza strip mall on the 35-800 block of Date Palm Drive.

They tried to help him, but police told them to keep their distance because the car had a small gas leak.

One of the salon’s workers was sitting in the lobby, and had a close call with the car.

?I was doing a crossword,? said Sandra Carleton. ?I heard an engine rev, and when I heard an engine rev, I looked up and then I screamed. It just hit the door here…and glass flew across here.?

Police say 62-year-old Jerry McFarland of Palm Desert suffered from minor glass cuts as a result. He told police he was coming up to a parking spot, and his car failed to stop.
