Skydiver Killed In Perris Accident Identified

A Russian man who died in a skydiving mishap in Perris was identified Saturday.

Mikhail Boldyrev, 38, collided with another skydiver about 9:15 a.m. Friday during a multi-person jump, causing his parachute to collapse and his body to plummet to the earth near 2091 Goetz Road, according to the the sheriff’s department and coroner’s office.

Boldyrev was in cardiac arrest when he was airlifted to the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, accompanied by his wife, said Dan Chenfeld, of Perris Valley Skydiving.

He was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m., according to the coroner.

The collision occurred 40 to 50 feet above the ground as the victim was trying to land, Chenfeld said.

Boldyrev was an experienced skydiver who was one of a group of 30 who jumped out of two planes, according to Chenfeld.

“The most important skill in skydiving is awareness,” he said. “He must have lost sight of a few people.”

According to Dan Cook, another employee at the skydiving center, the victim was attending a two-week training camp for experienced skydivers who want tips on making multi-person jumps.

People from 29 countries are attending the camp, Chenfeld said.

Next weekend, there will be two jumps of 100 divers each, Cook said.
