Explosive Device Shuts Down Palm Springs Street

Palm Springs Police and other agencies safely removed a small homemade explosive device that was found along the 4600 Block of E. Mesquite in Palm Springs, today.

The device was found by a worker for Palm Springs Disposal Services in a load they had collected.

Mesquite was shut down in the area of the Palm Springs disposal facility, and the Riverside County Hazardous Materials team was brought in to help disarm it.

Mesquite was re-opened at 1:40pm.

There are no indications of where the device was found, or who it may have belonged to.

The device appears to have been collected at some point along a route between Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs. There are no identified suspects in this case.
