Kidnapping Victims Found; Suspect Still On The Loose

The search for a kidnapped mother and child came to an end, this afternoon, when 18-year-old Nayelly Maldonado and her infant daughter Genesis were both located with police in Calexico.

Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate the kidnapping at 9am Wednesday morning along the 83-000 block of Agua Blanca Avenue in Coachella. Witnesses told police Rafael Delgado got into an argument with his girlfriend, Maldonado, and he ended up carrying her over one shoulder, and carring the infant in his opposite hand.

They say he walked them over to his 2004 Copper colored Nissan Armada, and placed the two inside.

Nayelly’s 13-year-old brother and 4-year-old sister also got inside the vehicle, and were dropped off at their uncle’s house in Coachella.

Investigators were working with the CHP in issuing a statewide Amber Alert when they were notified by Calexico Police Department that Nayelly and Genesis were in their care.

Police are still looking for Delgado. Anyone with information reference this incident may contact Coachella Police Department at 760-863-8990.
