Eleven Elementary School Students Hurt In School Bus Accident

Eleven out-of-state elementary school students on a bus involved in a collision at the Golden Acorn Casino on the Campo Indian Reservation today were being checked out at hospitals, authorities said.

The bus struck another vehicle in the casino’s parking lot about 8:10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Ten students on the bus suffered minor injuries, and one suffered moderate injuries, Mike Mohler of Cal Fire said. All 11 were taken to Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Alvarado Hospital to be checked out.

CHP Officer Ray Scheidnes said the group was from out-of-state.

No one in the other vehicle was hurt, Mohler said.
