Fire Weather Watch Issued For Friday In Desert

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the greater part of the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley regions.

The watch goes into effect Friday afternoon and extends into the evening hours.

NWS officials say six to eight hours of humidities below 15 percent and wind gusts of 35 mph or greater are expected for Friday afternoon and early evening for portions of the deserts.

Strong gusty winds are expected to continue Friday night, but humidities will gradually rise overnight.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. It’s basically a step below a Red Flag Warning.
