New Coachella City Manager Has Troubled Career Past
Newschannel 3 confirms that new Coachella City Manager David Garcia, who was appointed by Coachella City Council Wednesday night, was fired as City Manager of Chula Vista in 2008 for viewing inappropriate images on his work computer.
The allegations came from 3 city employees who complained Garcia spent hours downlowading images of women and viewing a Pamela Anderson Website.
“It became clear to the City Council that this action was in the best interest of the city,” Mayor Cheryl Cox told reporters in 2008. “Our residents deserve to have the highest confidence possible in their city government. The same holds true for our employees who work hard on behalf of residents every day.”
In a press release announcing Garcia’s hiring in Coachella, Mayor Eduardo Garcia detailed Garcia’s impressive resume, which included his City Manager job in Chula Vista.
“The City Council went through a very thorough hiring process to make sure we brought someone on board that would not only mesh well with the Council, but who could earn the respect of the staff and community with a vision to help move our city forward,” added Mayor Garcia.
