Red Flag Warning In Effect Until 11pm Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for a large section of inland Southern California.

The area stretches from the Coachella Valley to the high desert, and extends all the way down to the California/Mexico border.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are happening: a combination of strong winds, low humidity, and high temperatures. NWS officials say it’s a recipe for “explosive fire growth.”

Strong gusty winds are supposed to sweep through the mountains and deserts through the weekend. The wind will be dry on Friday and Saturday with humidities hovering around 8-to-15-percent.

On Saturday night, NWS officials say the humidity will rise rapidly, but the winds will continue.
