Family Ousted By Garage Fire In La Quinta
A fire gutted a garage at a home today in La Quinta, but no one was hurt.
The blaze began for unknown reasons around 12:40 p.m. at a home at 51645 Eisenhower Drive near Calle Sinaloa, said Capt. Fernando Herrera of the Riverside County Fire Department.
Nearly 30 firefighters contained the flames to the garage and had the fire out within about 25 minutes, Herrera said.
An SUV and the contents of the garage were destroyed, the captain said.
The rest of the home suffered extensive smoke and heat damage, according to Herrera.
The American Red Cross helped two adults and two children displaced by the blaze, he said.
Traffic was diverted from Eisenhower Drive onto Calle Hildago, said Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
