Fourth Suspect At Large After Police Bust Alleged Burglary Ring
Three men suspected in two burglaries in Palm Desert and the robbery of a Subway sandwich shop were behind bars today, but a fourth suspect remained at large, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
Albert Nicolas Collins, 24, of Bermuda Dunes, and Indio residents Brandon Reyes, 18, and Ricardo Hernandez Donato, 21, were arrested Monday, said Sgt. David Florez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Shonte Clifford Williams, 25, of Indio, is wanted for questioning in the burglaries and the May 31 robbery of the Subway at 41100 Washington St., Florez said.
The latest crime occurred around 4 a.m. Monday, when a home in the 48500 block of Shady View Drive was burglarized while the residents were asleep, the sergeant said.
The homeowner awoke and confronted one of the burglars, who fled the home and jumped into a waiting vehicle, he said.
The car was pulled over by deputies a short distance away, and three suspects were arrested, but the fourth got away and was last seen running into the Ironwood Country Club, according to Florez.
While attempting to find the suspect, deputies found out about a second burglary in the 48900 block of Phlox Lane, Florez said.
The two break-ins appeared to be related, and evidence was found that allegedly tied the suspects to the Subway robbery, the sergeant said.
