Freeway Partially Shut Down After CHP Crash

Authorities say a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer and four others have been hospitalized in a crash that closed the northbound 405 Freeway in Los Angeles.

CHP Officer Miguel Luevano says the deputy was making a traffic stop on the shoulder of the freeway Wednesday morning when a passing car crashed into the officer near the Interstate 10 interchange.

Luevano says the officer was taken to the nearby UCLA Medical Center with serious injuries. He did not know the conditions of the four occupants from the other vehicles.

The northbound freeway is closed between Venice Boulevard and I-10, causing major traffic on both sides.
