106,000 Votes Still Uncounted In Riverside County
The Riverside County Registrar of Voters confirms to News Channel 3 that the office still has 100,000 ballots from Tuesday’s election that haven’t been counted.
Doug Kinzley, the Assistant Registrar of Voters, tells KESQ they knew Tuesday night those ballots included vote-by-mail, provisional, and damaged ballots. He said they were piled in the storage room.
What’s more, the Registrar’s Office did not alert the candidates or the media about the uncounted votes, or post anything on their website, until News Channel 3 contacted them.
That means the result of many races, including Riverside County Board of Supervisors, local measures, and the Riverside County District Attorney’s race, all of which have been “called” could change.
Rod Pacheco, up for re-election to Riverside County District Attorney, conceded Tuesday night. Those votes could change the race.
That’s just one of the races. Local measures designed to fund police and emergency personnel only had just more than 1,000 voters turn out. After the “missing votes” are tallied, it could change the positive outcome they saw on Tuesday.

In a similar mid-term election in 2006, the Riverside County Registrar of Voter’s office shows more than 200,000 voters turned out to the polls, translating to a more than 25-percent voter turnout. Tuesday’s final numbers released Wednesday show just more than 100,000 voters showed up, despite some heavy-hitters on the ballot.
One-hundred-thousand more votes would bring it up to a similar number.
Kinzley says more ballots will counted starting this morning in Riverside, and a “final” vote count will be released by close-of-business on Thursday.
