Power Outages Hit Palm Springs, Palm Desert

Blaming an equipment failure, Southern California Edison said power outages hit Palm Springs and Palm Desert last night at nearly the same time, casting nearly 3,000 people in the dark.

Power was restored to most an hour later, but nearly 600 others were still without electricity for much of the day Friday. Those people didn’t see electricity until 2pm.

In Palm Springs, the affected area was within an area north of Alta Cresta, south of Gateway Drive, east of Gate Road, and west of Vista Sol, according to Southern California Edison. Spokespeople estimated power being restored by 6pm.

Palm Desert’s outage encompassed an area north of Palo Verde, south of Portola, east of Ajo Lane, and west of Sundrop. Power was restored by late morning.
