Gas Prices Rise For Summer Season
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose two-tenths of a cent today to $3.04, after decreasing five of the previous six days.
Despite the increase, the average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 1.5 cents lower than a week ago and 8.1 cents less than a month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 5.8 cents more than this time last year.
The average price rose 6.4 cents between June 4 and last Monday in connection with an increase in wholesale prices stemming from an unscheduled refinery unit shutdown in Carson on May 26, but has “settled back down,” according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
“It’s clear that there’s plenty of refining capacity in California to go around,” Montgomery told City News Service. “There’s plenty of supply out there, so now the prices are declining again.”
