World Blood Donor Day Pushes Need For Summer Supply
Today is World Blood Day, and local blood banks are hoping you will help them out.
They?re trying to get more supplies on-hand during the normally slow summer months.
One pint of blood can save up to three lives, according to Blood Donation spokespeople. Every two seconds, someone needs blood.
Most Americans will require a blood transfusion at some point in their lives.
Less than 10-percent of Americans donate blood on an annual basis.
Donors can give whole blood up to six times a year.
Rancho Mirage Mayor Richard Kite and other community leaders will gather at 11:00 a.m. at Community Blood Bank to pay special recognition to Community Blood Bank donors.
