Voter Reaction To Slow Election Results
It’s a bi-partisan complaint, the Palm Springs Lincoln Club and Democrats of the Desert are calling for the Riverside County Registrar of Voters Barbara Dunmore to resign.
As you may know, we didn’t learn until the day after last Tuesday’s election that more than 100-thousand ballots had not been counted. The mail-in ballot count which totaled nearly 130 thousand was completed Sunday. At this point, provisional and damaged ballots still need to be counted.
According to Dunmore, the slow count is due to her office being bombarded with mail-in ballots right before the election and budget cuts that didn’t allow her to hire enough temporary workers. Still, voters like Jeanne Foskett can’t understand the delay.
“You know when we vote we expect to have the voting done properly and on time and efficient especially with our day and age and our technology you think it would be done properly.”
Jim Stuart, the founding chairman of the Lincoln club told News Channel 3 Monday, last Tuesdays election wasn’t the first election mis-handled by Dunmore.
