Yucca Valley Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash

A 57-year-old motorcycle rider died today in a hit- and-run crash on state Route 62 north Palm Springs, and authorities were looking for a dark sedan with possible damage.

Gregory Nigh of Yucca Valley was declared dead at the scene on Route 62 near Painted Hills Road about 25 minutes after the roughly 12:15 a.m. collision, according to the California Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.

The suspect vehicle, described only as a dark sedan, kept going in the direction of Interstate 10, the CHP reported. The sedan may also be lighter in color. CHP officials say the witness saw the car at night, and evidence at the scene may indicate the car may be white.

Either way, CHP officials say the sedan will have major damage on the driver’s side, and it will have tinted windows at least in the back and possibly in the front as well.

Anyone with more information about the hit-and-run vehicle was urged to call the CHP Indio office at (760) 772-8911.
