Eight Arrested In Palm Springs Parole Sweep
Eight people suspected of various parole and probation violations were arrested today as part of a citywide sweep in Palm Springs, police reported.
The compliance checks began in the morning at 57 locations throughout the city, said Officer Melissa Desmarais, spokeswoman for the Palm Springs Police Department.
The sweep was aimed to fight back against “recent legislation authorizing the early release of parolees, coupled with the dwindling resources that all agencies are encountering,” said police Chief David Dominguez. All eight people are Palm Springs residents.
Charged with parole violations were Sonny Telez, 41; Ramon Ramos, 26; Jack Pavich, 32; and James Williams, 41.
Roderick Paschal, 32, was charged with suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale, child endangerment and probation violation. Jessica Vey, 30, was charged with suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and violating probation terms.
Vincent Little, 43, was booked for suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and violating probation. And Scott Webster, 46, was charged with violating probation terms.
Nearly 50 law enforcement officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, state parole and probation, the Coachella Valley Gang Task Force, Indio police, Cathedral City police, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the compliance checks.
