Palm Springs High-Speed Chase Ends With Spike Strips, Arrest

Palm Springs Police have a woman in custody after she took officers on a high-speed chase early Wednesday morning through downtown Palm Springs.

The chase started at 1:13am at Denny’s on North Palm Canyon, when a Palm Springs police officer using an automatic license plate reader was alerted to a stolen car in the parking lot. Police say it took only moments for a woman to come out of the restaurant, get in the 1987 Jeep Cherokee, and drive away.

Police followed her, leading up to the high-speed chase through downtown.

Officers set up a spike strip at Mesquite and Palm Canyon, bringing the chase to an end.

Police took Stephanie Carrillo into custody, and found her to be in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. She was booked in the Riverside County Jail in Banning for DUI, evading a police officer, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of stolen property.
