Another Device Found Attached To Hemet Police Vehicle

Hemet police officers discovered another “suspicious device” attached to a police vehicle, Tuesday, prompting an evacuation of the City Yard.

Residents were also cleared from the immediate area surrounding the yard.

Investigators say the officers found the device during a routine check of all of the police cars, and speculate it could have been placed there anytime within the last 60 days.

After examining the device, the Riverside County Hazardous Device Team determined it was not a danger, and gave the all-clear.

Investigators believe they have the suspects in these attacks in custody and that this device was simply not discovered until today.

Nicholas Smit and Steven Hansen were both arrested last week in connection with a string of attacks targeting the Hemet Police Department.
