High Speed Chase Winds Through Western Coachella Valley

Police are looking for a driver who led them on a high-speed chase through the west valley overnight.

It started at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, and exceeded speeds of 100 miles-per-hour.

Palm Springs Police said a driver in wharented black Ford Expedition was speeding, and refused to stop for officers.

Instead, he led them on a chase that wound through Palm Springs, Cathedral City, up into Desert Hot Springs, Sky Valley, then back to Cathedral City.

Several police agencies were involved in the pursuit, but they called it off because of fears someone could get hurt.

The driver finally abandoned the vehicle after crashing into a trash can on the 68000 block of Estio.

Police are trying to determine who rented the SUV in hopes of finding the driver.
