Woman Suffers Diabetic Seizure Behind The Wheel

An 84-year-old woman who police thought may have been intoxicated at one point was transported to a local hospital on Wednesday after they determined she was suffering from a diabetic seizure.

Police responded to a call just after 10 a.m. that a car was driving erratically on Indio Boulevard. One call came into dispatchers indicating the elderly driver may have hit a car.

Indio police followed the car and watched as the driver bumped into curbs. She finally crashed into one of those curbs just south of Interstate 10 on Indio Boulevard.

Officers thought she was intoxicated, and later determined she had been suffering from a diabetic seizure. She was transported to JFK Hospital in Indio, and was not arrested.

Police never located the car the woman reportedly crashed into. No one was injured.
