Police Search For Two Men After Deadly Shooting

A man was fatally shot in the head in Indio today, police said.

The shooting on Vargas Road, south of Gemini Street and Date Avenue, was reported at 12:18 a.m. Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

Officers found a man who appeared to be in his 20s or 30s with a gunshot wound to the head, Guitron said.

The man, who has not been identified, was declared dead at the scene. The victim was not known to anyone in the area of where he was shot, he said.

Two males with shaved or bald heads were seen running from the scene and into a nearby apartment complex, according to Guitron.

“We are searching that area, which includes a soccer field, some older homes, and apartment complexes,” Guitron said. “Nobody saw them shoot. They were seen running.”
