Jury duty scam alert

Riverside County Sheriff’s authorities warned residents Saturday to beware of scam artists using false jury duty reports to trick people into giving money.

The rouse involves someone claiming the intended victim has an arrest warrant for failing to show up for jury duty. The caller then asks for money, the Sheriff’s department reported.

Sheriff’s authorities would not call, e-mail or fax anyone for failing to report for jury duty. Those who have not shown up for the service should go to their assigned courthouse or call to reschedule, Sheriff’s officials said.
