Big-Rig Crash Slows Traffic On Interstate 10

Two big rigs crashed early today on eastbound Interstate 10 east of Coachella, spilling about 50 gallons of diesel fuel and prompting the closure of the slow lane.

The crash was reported at 1:33 a.m. on the interstate near the Cactus City Rest Stop, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A hazardous-materials team was on scene to clean up the fuel, the CHP reported.

The eastbound number two lane was expected to remain closed until around 1 p.m., according to the CHP.

Both drivers of the tractor trailers were unhurt.
