Firefighters Battle Mobile Home Fire In Indio

Firefighters doused a fire that broke out at a double-wide mobile home on Tuesday afternoon, said Cheri Patterson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire broke out at the Bermuda Palms Mobile Home Estates at 80870 Highway 111 in Indio around 1:25 p.m.

Nearly three dozen firefighters battled the flames in 117-degree heat.

The fact that it was so hot prompted the fire to jump to two alarms, so extra help could be on-hand.

One firefighter was transported to JFK Hospital suffering a burn to the hand, according to Cal Fire.

Two people were left homeless by the fire. The Red Cross is helping him find temporary housing.
