Beaumont Bottleneck To Be History By End Of Week

Months of road construction in Beaumont that has caused freeway bottlenecks in Riverside County is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

The newly built connector from the eastbound Moreno Valley (60) to eastbound Interstate 10 is expected to open by Friday, Barbara Miller of Caltrans District 8 said today.

Because of the connector’s importance to the region and the significant traffic burden imposed by the project, Caltrans coordinated with the contractor, Beador Construction, to expedite the project by 58 working days, Caltrans spokeswoman Kathy Boltz said in a statement.

The new connector is part of an Interstate 10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project in Calimesa and Beaumont, according to Caltrans.

During construction on the 60-10 connector, one eastbound lane of the 60 was the only access to the 10 Freeway. The pinch-point at times caused backups several miles into the Badlands and delays of 30 minutes or more.
