Fugitive Apprehended By Desert Hot Springs Police

A Desert Hot Springs man was behind bars today, after police chased him down Tuesday afternoon, said Sgt Dan Bressler of the DHS Police Department.

The chase happened late Tuesday afternoon as Martin Guerrero tried to hide near a residence on Sunset and 8th Street, he said.

Guerrero was wanted in connection with another chase that happened on August 14. Police said that chase began about 7:54 p.m. Saturday in the area of Hacienda Avenue and Calle Las Tiendas when an officer tried to pull over a vehicle with a broken headlight, said Sgt. Kenneth Peary of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle took off and the officer chased after him.

The pursuit ended when two people inside the vehicle ran out. One of the men, 23-year-old Jose Pardo was taken into custody, he said.

The driver, Martin Guerrero, 22, evaded officers and remained at-large, according to the sergeant, until Tuesday evening.

Guerrero was booked in the Riverside County Jail with no bail at this time.

He faces possible charges of evading arrest, possession of stolen property and violation of parole.
