Man Arrested For Manslaughter In Alleged Deadly Love Triangle
A Palm Desert man suspected of assaulting a well-known date grower, who later died at a hospital, was free today on $100,000 bail.
Michael Joseph Mrofchak, 39, was arrested around 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 79300 block of Sierra Vista in La Quinta and booked on suspicion of manslaughter, said Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.
Efren Castro, 51, of Indio, died Monday at Eisenhower Medical Center, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
Mrofchak is accused of hitting Castro, causing him to fall and suffer ultimately fatal injuries, during a fight over the elder man’s girlfriend in the 80000 block of Alicante Street in Indio, Guitron said.
