Man Barricades Himself To Hide From Cathedral City Police

Cathedral City police used force to get inside a home and subdue a wanted parolee on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened just west of Date Palm Drive near the city’s post office on Cedar Road.

Angel Maldonado had reportedly barricaded himself inside a home there after they chased him in his car earlier, and he ran inside a house.

For a short time, police pointed guns and rifles at the home waiting for the man to surrender.

After around 30 minutes, police entered the home, and searched through a few rooms. Family members helped them find Maldonado in the attic of the home.

He had been wanted on parole violations, and had left his prison-issued ID in the car.

He was taken into custody. No one was injured.
