Suspect Used Stolen Key To Burglarize Home

A man suspected of using a stolen key to enter a Desert Hot Springs home to steal jewelry and a laptop was behind bars today.

Cristian Alberto Reynaga, 22, of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested about 6 p.m. Wednesday at his home at 62843 Kitetail Drive, said Sgt. Daniel Bressler of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

Reynaga is accused of using a key on June 16 to enter a home on Dunes Pass when the 58-year-old owner left to visit a friend, Bressler said.

Surveillance video from the area showed Reynaga driving a white Honda Accord coming and going from the home, the sergeant said.

He allegedly took several thousand dollars worth of jewelry and the laptop, which was sold to get money to buy drugs, according to Bressler.

Reynaga was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in lieu of $31,155.
