Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $133 Million

An estimated $133 million jackpot has a lot of people feeling Lotto fever, and they’re snapping up tickets for Friday night’s huge Mega Millions lottery drawing.

La Puente resident Joe Torres has been going into the 7-Eleven on Sunset Avenue in La Puente for the last 10 years playing the lottery every day. For the last several years, he’s been a fan of Fantasy Five. He even won $350 once.

He said he uses the same set of numbers every time.

“One set of numbers represents family birthdays, and the other set of numbers represents L.A. Dodger retired uniform numbers,” Torres said.

But on Friday, he said he’s changing his routine and picking up a Mega Millions ticket too.

“Fifty thousand dollars would help right now, pay a few bills, but if you want me to dream bigger, I’ll dream bigger. I had no idea,” he said.

Torres said he had no idea the Mega Millions jackpot had reached $133 million. He and thousands across Southern California are hoping that their ticket will change their lives.

“I have four daughters, it’ll make it a little easier for them,” Torres said.

To win the jackpot, you must match all six numbers correctly. The odds of winning are one in 176 million.
