Police Need Help Identifying Burned Body In High Desert

Police were learning more on Friday about a burned body found this week in Joshua Tree.

Investigators tried to identify the victim using fingerprints, but were unable to do so because of the burns on her hands.

A passing motorist reported the fire on Tuesday along Highway 62. Firefighters stopped the fire and found the body.

The San Bernardino County coroners office said the unidentified body is a Hispanic woman, 5 feet 4 inches tall and about 145 pounds.

Investigators also released pictures of the victim’s earrings and pants.

The coroners office said she was wearing dark blue Wilson brand athletic pants and a matching jacket.

Her earnings are gold with a red stone.

Investigators believe the victim was killed somewhere else and then taken to Highway 62 at Hollinger Road and set on fire.

The victim may not be from the local area and is possibly from a surrounding county or Arizona.
