Letters From Susan Jordan’s Family Plead For Killers Death

In 1982, Albert Greenwood Brown, 56, was convicted of the rape and murder of a 15-year-old Riverside girl.

Her name was Susan Louise Jordan.

The execution of Brown has been delayed, but if it does happen, the execution would be California’s first in five years, and Jordan’s family says it couldn’t happen soon enough.

Letters from Susan Jordan’s family to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brown himself spell heartbreak.

Jordan’s mother Angelina, wrote to Brown saying, “It has been nearly 30 years since your abhorrent act of evil deeply scarred our family by taking the life of our beloved daughter and sister Susan Jordan.”

She goes on to say that, “Your flagrant disregard for human life exceed all bounds of decency. although you are guilty, and received the death penalty, justice has been neglected far too long.”

“I sympathize with the parents,” said Martha Jacobs, whose ex-husband was the lead detective on the case. “Look what they’ve gone through for 30 years. It’s terrible.”

Brown raped and murdered Jordan while she was walking to high school.

Her body was found in a nearby grove.

Jacobs wants no more delays, and she says Brown needs to die.

“Look how long he’s been on death row,” said Jacobs. “Anything can happen. But I certainly hope not for the families sake.”

Karen Jane Jordan Brown was 9 when her sister Susan was strangled to death with her own shoelaces.

She writes to the governor, “We are forced to relive this nightmare all over again. My father passed away 14 years ago — never having knowledge of justice being served.”

Her brother James Jordan wrote, “It’s now time for (Brown) to pay his debt for everything the he stole from us.”

“There’s a lot riding on it, in that society is taking the life of one of its members,” said Rod Pachco, Riverside County District Attorney. “There is certainly that aspect of it, and I don’t think there’s anything more significant than that.”

“Your day of accountability is now upon you,” Susan’s mother wrote to Brown. “The Jordan family will be watching.”
