Sen. Barbara Boxer Casts Vote Early For November Election
In front of reporters and photographers, Sen. Barbara Boxer cast her vote early on Tuesday.
“I came early because I wanted to send a message to everybody: Regardless of how you vote, please vote,” she said at the Registrar’s Office in Riverside.
Boxer hopes to hold on to her senate seat. Recent polls show she leads Republican Carly Fiorina by about five percentage votes.
The senator says it is going to be a close race. On October 22, President Obama and First Lady Michelle will be in Los Angeles to stump for Boxer at a fundraiser.
“There’s a great Latino expression: ‘Show me who you walk with, and I’ll tell you who you are,'” she said. “I’m proud of the people who’s supporting me in this great state, and I’m very proud to have the President’s support.”
Boxer has been in Washington for 28 years: 18 in the Senate; 10 more in the House.
Some say it’s time for a change, but the senator says not yet.
“The day I don’t feel it in my heart, the day I don’t feel the sense of outrage when the middle class is being stepped on and the environment is being destroyed [is when] I don’t want to do this anymore,” she said. “I can tell you now: I am fired up and ready to go!”
