Police Investigate Attempted Kidnapping In Indio
Indio police are investigating a report of a man trying to kidnap a 15-year-old girl from a city sidewalk.
The teenager told police she was walking home alone in the area of Cheyenne Road, north of Buffalo Trail in Indio on Monday when a passing car honked at her.
Inside, she told authorities a white man between 50 and 60 years old was driving a charcoal grey GMC Acadia. When she ignored him, he made a u-turn, drove towards her and pulled up next to her. He then tried to get her inside the car.
The teenager managed to escape and run home where she reported the crime.
Indio police said the man stood about 5’10”-6’00”, heavy set and wore a beige polo shirt.
She was able to help investigators develop a composite sketch of the suspect.
