Man Arrested For Smashing Windows And Burglarizing Businesses

A man on probation in a DUI case was arrested today on suspicion of two window-smashing burglaries in downtown Palm Springs.

Sergio Flores, 22, was arrested about 2:45 a.m., about an hour after the initial burglary in the 100 block of S. Indian Canyon Drive, said Officer Rhonda Long of the Palm Springs Police Department.

Officers found a business with a broken window and evidence that someone had entered the store, Long said.

While at the scene, officers heard glass breaking at another business nearby on Arenas Road, according to Long. A man in the area ran from the officers, who found Flores after a search and took him into custody, she said.

Flores pleaded guilty in November 2008 to driving under the influence, according to court records.
