Bob Hope Classic Announces 2011 ‘Classic Girls’

The Bob Hope Classic announced the “Classic Girls” selected for the 2011 PGA TOUR event to be held Jan. 17-23, 2011.

Serving as Classic Girls for the 52nd tournament will be (Bob) Samantha Cortese, 21, of Palm Desert, Calif., (Hope) Ashten Goodenough, 22, of San Diego, and (Classic) Ashton Hanson, 22, of La Quinta, Calif.

The Classic Girls will serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Bob Hope Classic, officials said.

The 2011 Classic Girls will carry the story of the “New Hope,” as they reach out to radio and TV stations, make personal appearances, and visit numerous charities in the Coachella Valley in anticipation of the many events of the tournament. They will be visible on the four courses throughout the tournament and will attend all of the Classic’s special events and promotions prior to and during tournament week.

Some 47 applicants were interviewed and a committee selected the top 12 girls to return for auditions, where the girls were asked a variety of questions, affording the judges the opportunity to get to know their personalities and how they might conduct themselves when representing the Classic. The judges then selected the three Classic Girls. The judges included Chairman of the Board John Foster, Tournament Chairman Larry Thiel, Marketing Committee Chairman Greg Helm, Celebrity Committee Chairman Clarke Rheney, Classic Director Davis Sezna and past Classic Girl Kate Spates.
