San Diego Officer Shot And Killed After Overnight Standoff

San Diego police have released the name of an officer killed in a shootout that ended with the death of his suspected killer and another person in a gun-littered apartment.

Police say Officer Christopher Wilson was a 17-year veteran.

He was shot Wednesday night when someone opened fire on officers who were helping serve an arrest warrant at an apartment in the Skyline area of town. Other officers pulled him from the apartment but he died at a hospital Thursday morning.

Police evacuated about 50 residents of the complex and began an eight-hour seige that ended shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday with the discovery of a man and woman dead inside a bedroom. Police say at least one is believed to have shot at police but it’s unclear whether they committed suicide or were killed by return fire.
