Desert Dunes Golf Club in Desert Hot Springs will host the first-ever Canadian golf tour event in the Coachella Valley.

The 72-hole, full-field tournament will run November 4-7, 2010. As an official event with a prize purse of $150,000, the event will offer local qualifying and Official World Ranking points.

A fun-filled pro-am kicks off the event on Tuesday, November 2nd. Baseball Hall-of-Famer Johnny Bench, former Major League standouts Mickey Tettleton and Mark Bellhorn, and NHL legends Grant Fuhr, Marty McSorley, Craig Simpson, Rick Vaive and Charlie Simmer have confirmed their participation at the Desert Dunes Classic Pro-Am. Also expected to golf are Hockey announcer Jim Hughson; former NFL standout Signor Mobley; stand-up comedian and actor Dave Coulier; and Olympic Curling Gold Medalist Kevin Martin, who is also part of Desert Dunes Golf Club?s new Canadian ownership group.

For some of the celebrities, the Pro-Am will be a tune-up for the actual tournament. Fuhr, McSorley and Bellhorn are expected to compete in the Desert Dunes Classic under sponsors? exemptions to find out how they stack up against a strong field of international hopefuls.

Tickets to the inaugural Desert Dunes Classic can be purchased at Desert Dunes Golf Club or Lumpy?s Golf in La Quinta and Cathedral City. Single-day tickets are $20 and a set of four tickets is $35. Children ages 12 and under will receive complimentary admission. Patrons will be also able to utilize their tickets towards a discounted green fee at Desert Dunes following the event.
