Suspect in Custody Linked To Carjacking In Bermuda Dunes

The California Highway Patrol has taken a suspect into custody linked to a carjacking in Bermuda Dunes.

The Sheriff’s department responded to a call around 8 o’clock Monday night, on the 79000 block of Avenue 42.

A La Quinta man was found bleeding when authorities arrived.

Authorities say he was visiting a friend when this happened.

The victim declined medical care, but was later taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries.

Authorities say he is not cooperating with the investigation.

Then early Tuesday morning around 2 a.m. officers spotted the vehicle, a newer model Dodge Magnum, in the area of Miles and Clinton in Indio.

They attempted to make a stop and a short pursuit ensued.

The vehicle ended up colliding with a CHP car — in the area of Shadow Palm Avenue and Monroe.

The suspect ran after the collision but officers were able to take 26-year-old Michael Guerra, of Coachella, into custody a short time later.

Officers booked Guerra on charges of evading a peace officer, DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, and a “slew of other charges,” according to CHP Officer Ramon Perez.

The incident is being further investigated by the CHP and the Riverside County Sheriffs Department.
