Suspected Kidnapper Caught Trying To Run From Courthouse

A man is in custody after police chased him down at the Riverside County Courthouse in Indio on Tuesday.

Police said Emanuel Jackson kidnapped a woman from her home, beat her and took her to another home in Desert Hot Springs.

The man eventually returned the woman, keeping her cell phone.

The kidnapping was evidently the result of a dispute over property that the man claimed she had, according to police.

Officers who responded received enough information to identify Emanuel Jenkins as the person responsible.

Over the past week, they have been looking for Jenkins.

Tuesday, at the Indio Courthouse, DHS officers saw Jenkins.

When Jenkins saw the officers he ran to his vehicle and attempted to run away.

He was taken into custody at his vehicle without further incident.
