Three Children Critically Injured By Driver In Hemet

An 89-year-old driver struck five children near a Hemet Park, critically injuring three of them, police said today.

The accident at Cypress Street and Kirby Street near Mary Henley Park occurred about 5:10 p.m. Friday, Hemet Fire Capt. Eric Janert said.

The three critically injured children, all younger than 10, were taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Hemet police said.

The driver was not cited pending the outcome of an investigation, police said.

The other two children were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, police said.

The injured children were 5, 6, 7, 11 and 14 years old, Hemet police Sgt. Mark Nipp said.
