Helicopters Help Find Missing Hikers Near Mecca

After a rescue effort was launched Monday afternoon, all three hikers that were missing in the Painted Canyon area of Mecca were found,

The hikers called for help just before 2 p.m. from Ladder Canyon in the Painted Canyon area, according to Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

A sheriff’s helicopter was able to pick them up and bring them to safety.

The oldest of the hikers was treated for dehydration, according to a sheriff’s spokesperson.

Health-wise, the other two hikers were fine.
