Rolling Stones Rumors Swirl As Coachella Fest Dates Announced
Dates are set for the 2011 Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Organizers announced the event will take place at the Empire Polo Grounds April 15-17.
The annual music festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio attracted a record 225,000 people over three days earlier this year.
The news some people are taking a very close look at is who could be headlining the event.
HITS Daily Double from HITS Magazine said it could be the Rolling Stones.
The magazine quotes, “During his recent press junket promoting Life, Keith Richards had no definitive answer to the constant questions about the Rolling Stones’ touring plans, but something was then in the process of going down, whether he knew about it (likely) or not. We’ve just learned that the Stones team is very close to finalizing a deal that would bring them to Coachella next April.
“According to our (HITS) sources, they’ll pick up a cool $5 million for playing the date; Paul McCartney pocketed $3.5 million for playing Coachella in 2009. This is the biggest booking coup yet for Coachella kingpin Paul Tollett, whose fest has served as a launch pad for numerous big-name tours in the past. Can you say “sold out”?
A publicist for the group is denying the rumors, though.
