Child Hit By Car In Palm Desert Prompts Closure Of Washington Street

A 10-year-old bicyclist had both legs broken Wednesday evening when he was struck by a vehicle in Palm Desert, a sheriff’s deputy said.

The crash was reported at 4:54 p.m. on southbound Washington Street at Avenue 41, said Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, Valenzuela said.

His injuries did not appear life threatening, Valenzuela said.
