Injured Hiker In La Quinta Transported To Hospital

Fire and rescue personnel made their way to a hiker who reportedly needed emergency medical help, this afternoon.

The Riverside County Fire Department received the call at 11:50 a.m. that an adult female hiker was down approximately one mile on the Cahuilla Trail, which starts in La Quinta Cove at the end of Calle Tecate.

Fire department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said an air resuce had been launched along with 13 firefighters on the ground searching for the injured woman.

By 1 p.m., the hiker was being transported to John F. Kennedy Hospital in Indio. Her injuries were not known.
