88-Year-Old Jailed For Shooting At Convalescent Home

An 88-year-old man was jailed today for suspicion of shooting an 86-year-old woman to death in a convalescent home in Seal Beach, police said.

The shooting was reported at 12:07 p.m. at Country Villa Seal Beach Healthcare, an extended healthcare facility located at 3000 Beverly Manor Road, said Sgt. Steve Bowles of the Seal Beach Police Department.

“About 15 to 20 officers arrived on the call of a shooting inside the facility,” Bowles said. “When they entered the room they found an 86-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the head. Also in the room was the 88-year-old male suspect.”

Bowles said the man, whose name would not be released, was taken into custody without incident. Police also found a .38-caliber revolver believed to have been used in the shooting in the room.

“We do not yet know the relationship between these two individuals but we are hoping to find out,” Bowles said.
