Near-Record Cold To Settle In Overnight

Overnight lows around the Inland Empire will be flirting with records for the date, but most spots should avoid a hard freeze.

The record low in Riverside for Nov. 25 is 28 degrees, set in 1931, and the National Weather Service predicted an overnight low of 39 degrees. Friday’s predicted low is 37 degrees.

In Palm Springs, the record low of 32 was set in 1952, and lows around the low desert are forecast to be 37-44 degrees overnight.

In Lake Elsinore, the record low for the date is 28 degrees, set in 1908, and area lows are predicted to range from 34-42 degrees overnight, according to the NWS.

Idyllwild’s record for the date — 15 degrees in 1966 — is probably safe.

Though it will be cold early, Thanksgiving Day should be sunny and nice, thanks largely to an offshore breeze. Highs are forecast to top out in the upper 50s and low 60s. Friday’s high in Riverside is forecast to be 68 degrees.

Overnight lows Friday will be equally chilly and perhaps a few degrees cooler.
